Collaborative couple Li Seok and Danbi Shin known as ShinLi, have entwined themselves in their latest artwork, Half & Half.
They have produced a series of portraits that depict half of themselves whilst they are on opposing sides of the world. The South Korean-born artists who are now based in New York, focus on photography and travel often so have produced this series at a time when Shin was in Seoul and Li in New York.
It documents their time apart from each other as they merge the contrasting photos into one. Their starkly different lifestyles become comparable as they are displayed side by side, a different language, culture and even weather becomes apparent when looking at the photos. Half & Half shows the difference in everyday lifestyles from people who are connected, from simple things like food to more obvious realities like distance.
